Keuka (Native American for: Canoe Landing)
Keuka Lake is called the "Lady of the Lakes" because of its amazing beauty. The Indian name Keuka means "canoe landing," but this Finger Lakes area used to be called Crooked Lake by the early settlers. It is very unique among the Finger Lakes because it features a scenic bluff over seven hundred feet above the lake, and is the only Finger Lake that outlets into another Lake. Keuka Lake is roughly 20 miles long and varies in width all the way up to 2 miles.

DescriptionSummers are unforgettable at Tanglewood Point on lovely Keuka Lake! A perfect blend of old and new with nearly an acre of level land, this unique lakeside cabin features modern amenities and rustic charm that will appeal to guests of all ages. There’s even a history to the property, which began life as a simple, bare-bones log cabin and has been modernized for contemporary comfort.
There’s easy access to the home thanks to a circular gravel driveway that runs right to the rear entry door. As you come in, a bright, airy kitchen greets you, featuring white cabinetry, log walls from the original cabin of the early 1900s and a dining table that seats four – ideal for snacks and informal meals. As you go straight through the kitchen, you’ll find a half-bath with new fixtures. Next comes a bedroom with a comfortable queen-size bed. A spacious second bedroom is just down the hall and also has a queen-sized bed, along with a walkout to a small deck overlooking the lake for romantic views, as well as a full bathroom with a shower and laundry facilities.
The living room is in the front of the cabin, with a sofa and two chairs for lounging and relaxing. For more elegant meals, there’s an additional dining table that also seats four – the kids could eat in kitchen and the adults in the dining area, or the dining room table could become a game center. Walk out from the living room onto a beautiful covered deck overlooking the lakefront and stunning views of Keuka Lake. Family and friends can spend the hot summer days together relaxing in the shade while watching the waterfront activities, or play in the tranquil waters just steps from your door.
The staircase in the living room leads to the second-floor sleeping accommodations for at least six people. A spacious bedroom at the top of the stairs features 90-degree views of the lake, a queen-size bed and a private balcony where guests can enjoy a glass of wine while watching the sunset. Just down the hall are two additional bedrooms, each with two twin beds and a direct walkout to a second-story covered porch – fun for the kids if they feel adventurous about sleeping out there. A full bathroom with a shower and classic separate clawfoot bathtub completes this level.
The exterior grounds feature plenty of level lawn for playing outdoor games, and 300 feet of natural, walk-in lakefront. A large permanent dock is available for fishing, sunbathing or mooring a boat. Enjoy a campfire in the evenings and roast marshmallows with family and friends right by the water’s edge.
Located just minutes from Hammondsport, “America’s Coolest Small Town,” and Bully Hill Winery, among many others, Tanglewood Point is convenient to a variety of area attractions and accessible to lakefront restaurants by boat or by car. The Glenn H. Curtiss Museum is “All about Flight” and aviation history, while the Finger Lakes Boating Museum, an old stone winery converted to a heritage site, has fascinating displays about life on the water. Consider taking a scenic 20-minute drive to the Windmill Farm and Craft Market, open every Saturday from spring through early winter, to enjoy a shopping experience unique to the Finger Lakes region. Boat tours of the lake, fishing charters and tours, and gear rentals are all available. There’s even the Brewery of Broken Dreams!
Whatever your interests, Tanglewood Point is sure to be a pleasurable vacation destination!
