Keuka (Native American for: Canoe Landing)

Keuka Lake is called the "Lady of the Lakes" because of its amazing beauty. The Indian name Keuka means "canoe landing," but this Finger Lakes area used to be called Crooked Lake by the early settlers. It is very unique among the Finger Lakes because it features a scenic bluff over seven hundred feet above the lake, and is the only Finger Lake that outlets into another Lake. Keuka Lake is roughly 20 miles long and varies in width all the way up to 2 miles.

Description

Botsford Cottage is one of the older cottages on Keuka Lake and features wooded lots to the north and south which afford a very private lakeside experience. There are no neighbors across the road; an extra vehicle or boat trailer may be parked on the south side of the grass ‘triangle’ there. Maple, walnut, and locust trees offer a natural screen. 27 steps lead to a 140' beach with dock, great swimming, and a view of Keuka Lake State Park, as well as the beauty of the lake itself. The fishing is excellent.

The first floor features a living/dining area, kitchen and 1/2 bath. The living room features comfortable Lazyboy recliners, a sleeper sofa, and a hi-def flat screen TV with DVD. A screened porch with picnic table is available for quiet evening dinners with a view and makes a great place for kids to play on rainy days. The yard is also a great place for games. Bring a badminton net or croquet set!

The second floor features three bedrooms; one queen bed, two full-sized beds, and a full bath. Window A/C units have been added to keep you cool and comfortable on hot summer nights.

Recent improvements include the following:

Mannington Simplicity vinyl flooring in kitchen, upper bath, lower 1/2 bath,

Dusk to Dawn Lithonia metal-halide exterior lighting for stair to beach,

A/C units on the second floor,

American Standard toilet, first floor,

Whirlpool washer & dryer- just in case!

Frigidaire electric range,

Gas grill,

Privacy curtains in all bedrooms.

Botsford Cottage is located exactly one mile south of the hamlet of Branchport, where you can find groceries, sandwiches, hardware needs, a gas station that does great repair work, and the Modeste Bedient Library- for a good book or internet access. The nearest boat launch is on Sugar Creek in Branchport (best for small boats), or head just a half mile east (toward Penn Yan) to Keuka Lake State Park. The cottage is directly across the lake.

Botsford Cottage was probably built in the late 1800's amd has been in the same family for about a hundred years. Some of the antiques have been in my family for generations, please enjoy them carefully.

Note: Smoking is not allowed in any rental property.
