About Penn Yan, NY

There are two distinct areas of Penn Yan. First, there?s the historic downtown village. This quaint district features some fantastic locally owned shops, restaurants, and more. Exploring this area is an excellent way to spend an afternoon during your stay. While you?re there, you may feel as though you?ve wandered into Pennsylvania Dutch country, with the many Amish eateries around. You?re not imagining things; this region is known for having the largest horse-and-buggy community in the state of New York. There are a few Amish settlements nearby as well. This salt-of-the-earth mentality reflects in the attractions found in downtown Penn Yan.

Once you?ve enjoyed the historic district, head to the greater Penn Yan region, which stretches almost to Seneca Lake. Here, you?ll find a fantastic range of wineries and farm-to-table restaurants. The vineyards in Penn Yan are members of both the Seneca Lake and Keuka Lake wine trails.

That means it?s also one of the longest-running markets in terms of its open season as well! The produce here is the highlight of the market, as well as the vendors selling prepared foods, souvenirs, and flowers.
