Whether it's a family reunion, destination wedding, couples vacation or just for fun, Seneca Lake Effect in the heart of the Finger Lakes Wine Trail is expansive enough to enjoy your guests in comfort and escape for privacy and solitude as well.

Situated on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake, you'll make sunsets the main event of a day filled with swimming or kayaking on the lake, and volleyball and badminton in the shade-filled, seven-acre wooded yard, where early risers can take in the sunrise.

This more than 4,000 square foot ranch-style house offers full lake views throughout the common area, and the cross-ventilation providing a gentle breeze and the cathedral ceilings pull the outside indoors. The cross-ventilation allows you to enjoy the relax on the large sectional sofa in front of the ornamental fireplace in the Great Room, which also features a conversation corner at its other end.

The open concept makes it perfect for large gatherings. The kitchen island and dining room table make hosting a buffet-style extravaganza or wine tasting easy. The gracious dining table seats up to 12 for a more formal gathering, and the lake and woodland views add romance. The kitchen has everything you need to nourish guests from cocktails to dessert. Gourmands will appreciate the six-burner gas stove and convection oven in the spacious open kitchen finished with hardwood floors.

The Sun Room is everything its name promises with sunrise and sunset views. All the entertainment you need is right there from the premium cable, 57-inch screen TV, game table (perfect for cards or a jigsaw puzzle) and a play area for toddlers.

Access the deck via the Great Room or the Sun Room to stare at the night sky or head down to the lake. The deck will be a focal point at mealtime as you fire up the barbeque grill. It's surrounded by just enough trees to please the sunbathers and shade lovers.

Take the steps down to the 293-foot waterfront (or perch on the half-way point deck) to spend the day swimming or kayaking in the deepest of the Finger Lakes. It's a great location for stargazing and roasting marshmallows around a bonfire. You can also reach the lake via a ramp.

Every room has its own premium cable-configured TV (except the Great Room). Five of the rooms have ensuite bathrooms. The two masters add to the luxury. Each has a king mattress, a walk-in closet, and lake views. The Lake Effect Master Suite includes a sitting room with a sleeper sofa and a Jacuzzi bathtub. The bunk room sleeps four (two bunks, a twin and a foldaway), so kids can have their own space too.

The house sits a quarter mile from the road, so you have all the advantages of being away coupled with the benefits of easy access to entertainment. If you need access to Wi-Fi, Lake Effect has a geek-approved high speed connection, so you may discover you do your best work from the deck. The large laundry is conveniently located between the common areas and the bedrooms. You're minutes from the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, microbreweries, and downtown Geneva is less than 15 minutes away, for fine dining, Wegman's grocery, and the farmer's market.

October 2019 Stay

We had a great time at the Seneca Lake Effect house. We had 4 couples and it worked out perfectly. The weather wasn’t great, but with a house like this we didn’t even care. We look forward to visiting again in the future.

August 2019 Stay

My wife and kids absolutely loved our stay at Seneca Lake Effect this August.  The house is huge, beautiful and clean.  The view of the lake can be seen from almost every room in the house and the view from the Great Room is simply stunning.  The sunsets are to die for!

The deck is gorgeous and huge!  The new dock and covered motorized boat lift was a treat for when we rented a boat from Roy's.  We loved being able to jump right into the lake from the dock.  We also loved taking relaxing dips in the hot tub right off of the deck.  We also enjoyed being close to so many great wineries, breweries and distilleries.  We can't wait to go back.

August 2019 Trip

My family and I are repeat customers to this grand house! We absolutely love all that it has to offer! The views are amazing and the new hot tub is off the charts when your soaking and watching the sunset! There is also the new addition of a dock which is the best place to enjoy breakfast and coffee in the morning! It is so quiet and peaceful each time we’ve been and the landscape around the home is beautiful! I wish I could give one hundred stars for our vacation review but will have to settle gazing at the million stars at night over the campfire!! Always magical! Will be back again and again! Thank you!

Thirteen Thumbs Up

“It's difficult to find a place for a family of 13 to get away from the craziness of everyday life. We found a peaceful, gorgeous, immaculate, huge piece of perfection...Seneca Lake Effect. The house was equipped with everything from comfy beds to top of the line appliances. With all of the bedrooms and baths, our crew could spread out and truly relax. The kitchen was out of this world! It was an extraordinary vacation with all of the people we love. Sunsets aren't too shabby either!”

This house is beautiful and spacious! It has every amenity and I would definitely come again! The proximity to downtown Geneva and the Seneca Wine Trail is convenient. I did find the app to be a bit inefficient.  However, great getaway to quiet your body, mind and soul. I am hoping to do this again with family and friends!

Best property in our 6 years of renting. plenty of room for a large group (13) and all kinds of nice amenities. Enjoyed the fire pit on the cliff and the large deck. Ping pong table was utilized often as well as the hammock. Bathroom for every bedroom was very nice.

June 2017 Stay

This property exceeded our expectations. The view was amazing . The home was clean and comfortable with plenty of room for our family of 17 of all ages, ranging from 2 to 90. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need. Plenty of amenities from games both indoor and outdoor, plus the kayaks were a huge hit. Conveniently located to shopping and wineries. Its a 45 min drive to Watkins Glen but a beautiful ride along the lake. We all had a wonderful time. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this home.

Size Does Not Matter...

Of course the fact that Seneca Lake Effect has 6 bedrooms and could sleep 17  calls out to large groups,  but that does not mean that  smaller groups would be “rattling around” and not able to enjoy this beautiful place!    We were a family of five (ages 12-76) and felt totally cozy,  comfortable, and connected!   The house sits on a bluff overlooking the lake so the cathedral ceiling windows and expansive deck would give a fabulous view in any season.  About half way down the flight of stairs that leads to the water’s edge is Sunset Deck—sited perfectly for a spectacular Happy Hour or just watching the kids swim down below.  Only a very narrow stony beach lines the water’s edge, but a long pier gives plenty of space for sun tanning or perhaps tying up a boat rented from a marina on the other side of the lake.  The property also includes woods to explore, grassy areas for volleyball or pass-n-catch football, and a place to launch the fleet of four kayaks.  Such a great place—hope to return very soon!

April 2017 Stay

My family and I stayed at Lake Effect in April. Just pulling up into the driveway took our breath away!! Huge lawn so much space! Then walking in was amazing! Absolutely huge inside with incredible views of the Lake!! The bedrooms which are located in a different wing were remarkable! Beautifully decorated with our own bathroom complete with shower. Not to mention how quiet and "off the beaten path" to the rest of the house. A massive kitchen to cook in while breathing in the scenery, just fabulous. Wineries galore and you can bring your pooches. Love it! Will definitely stay again and recommend to everyone!! If I could give it a 10 star rating I would but it only allows for 5. Warm, inviting, and relaxing!!! Best home ever!!!

May 2017 Stay

Visiting Seneca Lake Effect in May was an amazing and unforgettable experience!  From the moment we arrived, the house [and weather too!] was inviting and met all expectations throughout our stay.  Don’t let the exterior fool you, the home is vast, ample and immense – and all on one level! Ideal for those who wish to avoid stairs.  The high ceilings, numerous windows and generously large family and bedrooms make the house feel cavernous, yet it quickly lends to a comfortable home; one in which you may easily enjoy a lively social moment with family and friends, or if you chose, tuck-away for a moment of solitude while admiring an astonishing view of the lake, a picture-perfect sunset and Seneca Lake Effect surroundings.

Seneca Lake Effect seems isolated from others, but not far behind the brush and gorgeous trees, you’d find a lovely and peaceful community.  Unless one wonders the area, the experience of seclusion and privacy is almost a given.

Besides immediate access to the lake, Seneca Lake Effect’s nearby must-go-to attractions are only minutes away! The nearby wineries and breweries, all of which provide the ubiquitous Adirondack chairs, are perfectly positioned to lounge and enjoy a gorgeous view of the lake and sunsets too!

On a scale of 1 to 5, Seneca Lake Effect is a perfect 10!!

Perfect for a Girl's Getaway week/weekend

If you are looking for the PERFECT getaway spot for a girls' week/weekend, then look no further than Seneca Lake Effect!  This gorgeous home sits right on the water with a spectacular view--whether it's cold and you catch it from the large living area, or it's warm weather and you catch it from the huge deck facing the water.

Why is this perfect for the girls?  Where else can you go that has six bedrooms and six full bathrooms!  Where else can you go that offers you the seclusion of the getaway spot, yet lies minutes from numerous wineries!  Quite simply, a girls' getaway is a MUST DO at Seneca Lake Effect!

Spacious comfortable family retreat!

Seneca Lake Effect is a beautiful home perfect for large families, or get together's with multiple families or friends. The layout makes both privacy and together time easy. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the private baths accompanying nearly every room make for unusually comfortable arrangements with multiple families. The beautiful and highly functional kitchen overlooks the lake making for wonderful cooking and eating as the sun sets. The view just cannot be beat. The dock area is pretty and easily accessible via stairs. There are really nice wineries near by. My family had a wonderful stay in the home and would highly recommend it.

Seneca Lake Effect

We had the opportunity to stay at Lake Effect in late May.  We had a wonderful ride up to New York (we are from Philadelphia) and enjoyed the Scenic Wine Trail as we came upon Seneca Lake.

Lake Effect is a very roomy house -- with 6 bedrooms, 6 full bathrooms, a large kitchen, and large deck. The master bedroom is HUGE, but each bedroom was comfortable; with a TV and linens.

It truly is right on the lake!! From the deck you can see the lake and each night we all watched the sunset - it was spectacular!

The house sits above the lake -- with a staircase that takes you down to the lake.  There is a platform midway down the stairs that was a wonderful place to enjoy the lake. At the lake, there is a boat dock.  And while we didn’t take advantage of it, there were kayaks (and life vests) that were available.

Being a big birder, I enjoyed watching the lake.  In one afternoon, I saw an osprey catch a fish, geese with some babies, great blue herons flying overhead, kingfishers, and various other ‘normal’ birds (cardinals, wrens, etc).

Lake Effect is secluded.  There are woods around it.  Others in our party said they saw a couple of deer and a fox.  It was very quiet -- no road noise, no train whistles.  Yet it was within 10 minutes of the quaint town of Geneva.  We enjoyed driving around the town.
