Description Description

Located minutes from the award-winning Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyards, Bonskeid House is nestled on Seneca Lake’s west side. Fondly named after ties to Scotland, this estate on twenty acres has 170 feet of beach-front. Come and enjoy the beauty of this Finger Lakes gem!

Upon entering the front door, you will find a well-appointed living room with a gas fireplace. An open floorplan leads to the dining room, large kitchen with bar seating, and an expansive deck overlooking the lake.

The main level has a master bedroom with a full bath and access to the outdoor deck. There is also a second bedroom with a half bath. The lower level is ideal for a second family if you are traveling with two. It includes two bedrooms each with full baths, a living room, bar area with mini-kitchen, and its own private entrance.

At the lakefront, the walk-in beach area is ideal for launching the provided canoe, kayaks, and standup paddle boards. In the evening, gather around the fire pit and watch the moon rise and shimmer on the lake.

Bonskeid House is right in the heart of wine country, minutes from a variety of unique dining experiences including Tabora Farm and Winery, F.L.X. Winery and Belhurst Castle. Ten minutes to the south is downtown Watkins Glen with dining and shopping options, “The Glen” automobile racetrack, and Watkins Glen State Park where you can hike the gorge trail. Twenty minutes to the north is Geneva’s Spray ground for the children, and the Finger Lakes Visitor Welcome Center and Taste NY Market.

Nice, but had issues.
Pros: Beautiful house, very clean, lots of room, well stocked kitchen with many small appliances, elevator down to lake. Cons: Light switches that do not turn on lights, temperature control issues, to get to downstairs section you have to go through a garage, fireplace does not appear safe, lack of exterior lighting. We had a big storm and lost power, we contacted property management, and they kept us updated. Next day late afternoon called again because tv and internet was out. Contacted again and they tried to fix but had to call company service. Due to location a generator would be a great addition. Two bedrooms are upstairs and two bedrooms are downstairs, but you have to go through the garage. Its a bit weird setup. Huge full kitchen upstairs and small bar and mini kitchen area with refrigerator which was nice. The thermostat was difficult to work as it seemed preset and scheduled. Very cold the first two nights then I found a space heater. View is beautiful. Large deck with outdoor tables and chairs. I wish our weather was nicer so we could enjoy it. Hot tub was relaxing. I loved that we could bring our dog, they even left a goody bag for him. Plenty of wineries close by, some within a 5 minute drive.

This home was spacious and comfortable,  it created many wonderful memories.  And the hot tub was a great end to the evening.

Mrs.
I stayed for a girls weekend and what a lovely place. Tastefully decorated and had everything you needed. Looked like the whole place was recently remodeled and more being done. I would love to see how it looked before being remodeled. I was also checking it out to possibly take my family and stay here but no dates were available as of yet. The view over the lake was gorgeous and I liked that it was very private not a place close to everyone else. Simply Beautiful!
