The Grande Dame - The Big Lady, is the perfect place and space to gather friends and memories. As her name implies, the house is big, sleeping 13 with lots of outdoor space and lake front access to accommodate your large group.

Located midway between Watkins Glen and Geneva on Seneca Lake’s east side, and minutes from Finger Lakes favorite wineries such as – Boundary Breaks Vineyard, Grande Dame is the perfect retreat regardless of whether you’re a returning traveler or it’s your first time touring the Finger Lakes.

Upon arriving, the clear waters of Seneca Lake can be seen from the moment you park the car and unload your luggage. Relax with a bottle of local Finger Lakes wine and unwind, you’re on lake time! Inside, the kitchen greets you and encompasses the great room with both living and dining areas combined. Ideal for entertaining, this area is sure to hold many memories from your trip! Don’t feel like grocery shopping and cooking? Have your own local personal chef and sommelier provide a culinary experience to remember. The Grande Dame Concierge Services will be provided upon booking.

Granite countertops, tile backsplash and custom cabinetry in the kitchen are a chef’s dream come true. An elegant stone, gas fireplace adds warmth and natural beauty to the west wall of the great room. Turn on a fire for those chilly nights and relax in luxury on the comfortable sofa.

Throughout this cozy home, five private bedrooms are yours to choose from. Choose your favorite and whether your view is of the lake, or the garden you’ll be in for a treat! The kids will love the newly renovated “bunk room”, with five twin beds, and an adjoining room with a queen bed in case there is a need for an adult close by. Or the twins can be joined together to create 2 king sized beds. Each evening, rest your head and dream of the Finger Lakes adventures planned for your getaway tomorrow.

Among the many indoor amenities include family favorite board games, a Wifi speaker for enjoying your own playlists and even an acoustic guitar for those musicians among you.

Outside, a lake facing patio overlooks the lake in the distance. Entertaining is always best under the sun and on this perfectly set up patio you’ll encounter an outside dining experience that can accommodate your whole group for feasts you’ll never forget!

Descend across the yard and across a quiet, private road and lead the way to 50’ of dedicated lake frontage just for your group on beautiful Seneca Lake. If you plan to bring your boat, the Grande Dame is ½ mile down the road from Lodi Point State Park, from where you can launch. The lakefront offers a natural entry to the water along with a permanent dock (feel free to moor your boat!), perfect for fishing each season. Spend the day sunbathing on the dock and create new adventures by paddling along the shore in one of our kayaks. In the evenings, you can enjoy a good old fashioned campfire on the beach around our fire pit.

Popular award-winning wineries are abundant within a short drive, including Wagner Estates, Silver Thread Vineyard, Standing Stone Vineyards, and the renowned Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars. Through the summer months entertainment will be a breeze as many local wineries and breweries offer festive events including live music paired with captivating scenery and food. The Grande Dame is located about 10 minutes from downtown Ovid, where you can pick up groceries, great coffee and dine at a couple restaurants should you decide to venture out. Another 25 minutes down the road is the quaint village of Watkins Glen, where guests of Grande Dame can easily hike the Watkins Glen State Park and view gorgeous waterfalls. This property is new and beautiful! 5 bedrooms is difficult to find, so this really met our needs. We were also happy to find it accepted 2 dogs. Our whole family stayed for a week and everyone enjoyed every day. The kitchen equipment is all new and of a nice quality - no garage sale stuff. There were a few maintenance issues, which we reported. Although no one ever responded, we hope the issues will be resolved now. Be aware that the boat lift is inoperable and you cannot leave your boat in the water over night on this side of the lake because of rough water. Luckily, a neighbor warned us of this. Overall, we would stay here again.

Great house for toddlers!

This was a great set up for six adults and two three year-old grandsons. We appreciated being able to cordon them off in separate areas of the house. We spent a lot of time on the deck and yard with the kids and their toys, and also at the lake edge in water shoes (a must-have), collecting (and throwing) rocks. Easy walk/scooter to the park and playground. We ate almost all of our meals at home after a couple of forays to Wegman's in Geneva and multiple farm stand visits (bring cash). Kitchen is well-stocked with pots and pans and dishes (including lots of coffee cups!). We brought pantry items. Would recommend stocking up on cleaning supplies (e.g., Clorox wipes, liquid soap, dishtowels, paper goods). Definitely recommend bringing some kind of sun shade (we brought a tent based on the listing photos which show it's very sunny). This was our first visit to Finger Lakes. We were so impressed with the area, including water sports and biking options and the remarkable friendliness of the neighbors.

We'll Be Back!

This was the perfect vacation spot for our family. When we arrived at the location, everything was set up to perfection. The space was clean and welcoming with each room equipped with individually wrapped towels and washcloths. The bunk room was a hit with the kids. They had plenty of late night dance parties and game playing. It was a hit with who the whole gang. There was something for everyone to do, kayaking on the lake, guitar playing in the family and walks to the nearby park. The house was clean and equipped with everything we needed and wanted for the week. There was room outside for games, and the fire pit was a nice way to watch to the sunset at night. We will definitely be back again! Best stay we have had in the Finger lakes.

Best Stay on the Finger Lakes - 10 star rating!

My family and I lived in Upstate New York for nearly a decade and have visited the finger lakes numerous time over the years. However, this was first time to the Grande Dame and it was the best so far! The amenities, location and accommodations allowed my family and our friends to reconnect without the worries that come with staying in a rental. Everything we needed was there, from personally wrapped towels, to all the kitchen hardware to have a fun picnic on the lake, games to play with the kids, kayaks for the lake and a fire pit for smores. The children ranged in age from 6-11 and there was something for everyone. We were able to walk or rollerblade to the park every morning and skip rocks across the lake. The house was clean and well-organized with fun decor and some of the most comfiest beds we have ever slept in! The bunk room was a HIT with everyone, and allowed the kids a place to call their own and play games and some down time for the adults. There was enough room for everyone to eat inside and play games or go outside to play in yard or take one of the kayaks for a different view of the lake and a deck/firepit to take in the other worldly sunrises and sunsets. There was something for all of us. The guitar on the wall was an added bonus that allowed for family singalongs (though offkey because of the singers not the guitar) and made for some amazing family memories. If you are looking for a place to bring family and friends together, you will not be disappointed! I can speak for our entire group...we will all be coming back!

The Perfect House!

5-Star Stay!

We spent a few days at Grande Dame and it did not disappoint. There were 6 adult couples and the home was spacious enough to accommodate all of us comfortably. We greatly enjoyed the outside patio area, fire pit and beautiful lake views! We had some great sunsets, and the kayaks were an added bonus!

Excellent Adventure

I took my whole family there, nine, plus a baby and a dog and there was plenty of room. Bedrooms are spacious, kitchen area/living room was open, and the view of the lake is beautiful. The firepit and kayak's were a big hit. Great place to watch the sunset (or sunrise if you're an early bird). It was close to the wineries and on a quiet street. The only drawback was the bathroom upstairs. It had a jacuzzi, which is fine, but with beds up there for 7 to 9 people, the two showers downstairs had to be utilized for those who don't like to soak. We had an excellent adventure. Party on!
