Comprehensive Review! It lives up to it's name, A Little Piece of Haven
It's nice and close to Hammondsport. If the neighbors aren't noisy, it's amazingly quiet for how close you are to other houses. Was amazed at how little of the main road noise came down the hill. Must have something to do with all the trees that are between the house and the main road. Now for some details that aren't listed consistently over all the listings of this place. The wooden dock has been replaced with composite decking. It's very nice! The boat lift has been removed and the opening fits a rental tri-toon boat with ease. There is a fold down ladder attached to the larger portion of the dock to make getting in and out of the water much easier. The house comes with two kayaks and life vests which we put to good use. But since there is no beach at this house, putting them in and out of the water was a bit difficult as well as getting in and out of them. We were able to use the ladder to do so with some difficulty especially if you were trying to stay dry. Not sure if there would be a way to make that more easily done unless they would put in some permanent stairs that go all the way into the water or a kayak launch pad or something. There were also some pool noodles next to the kayaks. The covered porch was the best place to sit and soak up the views and to just relax. The grill worked well. The house is close enough to the water that even sitting inside on the couches made you feel like you were sitting over the water. While there are a decent flight of stairs to the house from the ample parking area, they are not bad at all. They were not slippery when wet either which was a big plus! They don't show you a picture of the bathroom and while it's small, it's very adequate. It's only a shower (no tub) which was totally fine for us. Not a lot of great space to hang towels but there are a couple of rods above the toilet. The beds were comfortable. The a/c units in each bedroom were a bonus for helping us all to sleep really well. The kitchen now does have a toaster oven which is helpful since it does not have a stove/oven combo. Some things I wish I would have known before doing the grocery run before getting to the house. It has all the dishware, utensils, baking dishes, pots, coffee maker, etc. that any good kitchen should have. Salt and pepper is all that is there so bring all other spices/oil/vinegar you will need for your food. There is no foil, cling wrap, Ziploc bags or anything like that. It did come with coffee filters which was a bonus. It has a reusable one in the coffee maker or there are paper ones in the cupboard. The one bonus about being close to Hammondsport is that you are very close to a grocery store and they do not charge you for bags if you forget yours. There is also a clothes line off the the porch where you can hang swim clothes etc. to dry as well as over the porch railings. It comes with a firepit which we put to use a couple of nights. It's a lovely little place for just a few people. We were there with our daughter and son-in-law. We had a lovely time and as always, it went by much too quickly!

The location was great especially for Hammondsport and with a few steps away from the lake!
We had a very enjoyable week especially as the weather was surprisingly sunny and warm at the end of Sept. The verandah was surprisingly roomy and used a lot. The property was clean and everything working. Would stay again even during the busier periods.

Great Choice
This place is simple and uncluttered with all the amenities necessary for a comfortable stay. Fishing off the dock is great. It is a perfect choice for a couple or small family looking for a quiet time on a beautiful lake.

This place is great. It did get a bit warm inside with the evening sun , even with the shades closed on the sliding glass door. The room air conditioners in the bedrooms were nice but would have been better if there was central air. Other than that, the place is awesome. Loved the fire pit, ease of parking, location, and view! The porch is the best part! Thank you.

Little piece of Haven is indeed little but it is also perfect. The location is fantastic. The porch, lawn, and dock are all large enough to make the property feel bigger than it is. The inside is simple but it has what you need. Parking is great and there aren’t too many steps down to the water. A plus spot for a small family or a couple to enjoy.
