Newly furnished, the guest house can be found a short walk from the main house. Nestled over the pole barn, this modern guest house offers additional living space for six travelers. Two additional bedrooms, accompanied by two additional full bathrooms makes for a very comfortable guest house. A small kitchen and living area set the scene for two retreats in one! First off I will say the location is beautiful and each evening we had a great sunset view. The house was clean and well appointed (although not ready when we arrived at the check-in time). There were several things to watch out for. The great view is because the house is elevated on a hill and has a very steep driveway. The rear guest house also requires going up a steep driveway. Going down to the dock will mean a lot of stairs or another VERY steep driveway. If there are seniors in the group this may be a problem. For our stay the hot tub cover lift was broken so it required a couple of adults to remove and replace each time it was used. There is a wall mounted AC unit in the main floor living room and window units in each of the two main floor bedrooms but the walkout basement where the other bedrooms are located has no AC. The rear guest house has a single wall AC unit for the entire apartment. Be prepared for ATVs, side by sides and other vehicles constantly going up and down the driveway and the street from the construction company based out of the house next door. Probably our biggest complaint was the trouble we ran into with our boat. We intentionally rented a house with a dock so that we could make use of our boat for the week. We were told ahead of time that the lift could not be used but that there were cleats available to tie the boat off to. When we arrived we found out that it was not possible to tie the boat off to the cleats without damaging the boat, the dock or both. We asked the owner if we could simple tie the boat to the four piers from the jet ski lift (these are year round docks so the piers are permanently installed). The owner refused saying he did not want us using the piers (even though 2 of the 4 cleats provided for us were bolted to the piers!) It was suggested that we take the boat to the marina and launch it there. We did this for two days before giving up. If you are on vacation who wants to pack up the kids in the car, drive to the marina, pay additional money and take the boat off and back on the trailer every single day?? Needless to say this put a real damper on the week.Thank you, Timothy, for staying with us and for sharing your experience. We sincerely apologize for your boating inconvenience. As we discussed during your stay with us, because of the low lake levels it wouldn't have been safe for your boat to be attached to the dock in any manner. Because of the unforeseen circumstance by this summer's weather, we hope you did appreciate the credit for your inconvenience. Feel free to reach out to our local guest services before your next visit to the Finger Lakes to ensure your vacation expectations are exceeded. We hope you enjoyed the Region altogether and we hope to host you again soon!
