Description Description

Welcome to Solitude, your private retreat on the tranquil western shores of Canandaigua Lake. This expansive Finger Lakes vacation rental sits on five acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, offering a rare combination of space, privacy, and lakeside fun. Designed for family reunions, group getaways, and multi-generational gatherings, Solitude features three separate homes — the Main House, Guest House, and Boathouse — providing ample room for everyone to relax, reconnect, and enjoy the best of lake living.

From the moment you turn down the long, tree-lined driveway, you’ll feel the peaceful rhythm of Solitude’s setting. Mature trees, manicured gardens, and wide-open lawns create a park-like atmosphere, while glimpses of sparkling lake views peek through the branches as you approach. The property’s thoughtful design ensures that every guest finds both quiet corners for reflection and open spaces for shared experiences.

The Main House sits gracefully atop a gentle hill, surrounded by greenery and perfectly positioned to capture views of the lake below. Inside, the space feels warm and welcoming, with rustic knotty pine walls, cozy furnishings, and large windows that bathe each room in natural light. The open country kitchen serves as the heart of the home, fully equipped with everything you need to prepare family-style meals. With multiple dining spaces and four refrigerators across the property, there’s plenty of room to store groceries and entertain large groups with ease.

The main level of the home features a bright bedroom with a queen bed and access to a sunlit four-season room — the perfect spot to curl up with a book or enjoy morning coffee while soaking in the quiet beauty of the surroundings. Upstairs, the master suite offers a king bed and private ensuite bath, creating a restful haven for relaxation. Two additional bedrooms on this level share a Jack-and-Jill bathroom and feature both full-size and Murphy beds, allowing for flexible sleeping arrangements for families or groups.

The Guest House adds even more comfort and privacy to your stay. Divided into two separate living quarters, each space includes its own full kitchen, private bedroom, and bathroom. The downstairs unit also includes a washer and dryer, providing extra convenience for extended stays. Whether you’re hosting grandparents, family friends, or additional guests, this setup allows everyone to enjoy independence while still being part of the larger group.

Just steps from the water, the Boathouse offers a truly special experience. This charming lakeside retreat features two bedrooms, a full bathroom, and a balcony overlooking Canandaigua Lake — the perfect place to sip your morning coffee or watch the sun dip below the hills. With the lake just a few steps away, guests staying here enjoy immediate access to swimming, kayaking, and fishing from the private dock.

Outdoor living at Solitude is where the property truly shines. With 234 feet of private lakefront, there’s plenty of space to enjoy the water and the view in complete privacy. The mix of natural and constructed breakwall creates both beauty and functionality, offering safe, easy access for swimming and boating. The permanent dock provides a wonderful spot for sunbathing, launching non-motorized watercraft, or simply watching the boats drift by on summer afternoons.

When you’re not by the lake, the property offers countless ways to relax and play. Challenge your friends to a match on the full-size tennis court, soak in the hot tub as the sun sets, or paddle along the shoreline in the provided canoe. As evening falls, gather around the fire pit to roast marshmallows, share stories, and enjoy the crisp Finger Lakes air under a canopy of stars.

Solitude’s location makes it easy to explore the best of the region year-round. In summer, take a short drive to Grimes Glen Park for a scenic waterfall hike or visit Joseph’s Wayside Market in Naples for fresh produce, local baked goods, and seasonal flowers. Wine lovers can explore nearby vineyards and tasting rooms, while craft beer enthusiasts will enjoy stops at Twisted Rail Brewing and Young Lion Brewing in Canandaigua.

During the colder months, Bristol Mountain Ski Resort — just a short drive away — offers downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and panoramic views of the surrounding valleys. Fall visitors will love the vibrant foliage that transforms the landscape into a painter’s dream, while spring brings wildflowers, budding vineyards, and quiet mornings on the water.

Practical features make Solitude as functional as it is beautiful. The paved driveway provides easy access to the property, with a covered canopy near the Main House for convenient unloading. Additional parking for larger vehicles is available just a short walk away. For fall visits, a four-wheel or all-wheel-drive vehicle is recommended to navigate the gentle slope of the drive. Guests should note that the walk down to the beach includes stairs and a gradual path, so those with mobility concerns may prefer to enjoy the views from the upper decks and porches.

Every detail at Solitude is designed to make your stay comfortable and memorable. From the spacious lawns and multiple gathering areas to the thoughtful amenities and serene natural surroundings, this vacation home captures the timeless spirit of the Finger Lakes. Whether you’re enjoying a peaceful morning paddle, a tennis match with friends, or a lakeside bonfire as the stars come out, the property offers countless opportunities for connection and relaxation.

As the evening settles and the last light fades across Canandaigua Lake, you’ll understand how Solitude earned its name. Here, time slows down, laughter echoes across the water, and every day ends with a sense of contentment. It’s a place where families come together, friendships deepen, and the simple pleasures of lake life take center stage.

Book your stay at Solitude today and experience a Finger Lakes vacation rental that offers something truly special — the space to unwind, the comfort to reconnect, and the beauty of a private lakefront retreat on Canandaigua Lake.

*Please Note: Solitude is easily accessed by a long paved driveway that has a covered canopy as you near the house.  The canopy measures about the same height as a standard garage door entry. Most standard full-size vehicles (ie. Chevy Tahoe) can fit down under this canopy but an oversized truck or standard cars with roof racks may not fit. Parking for over-sized vehicles can be found approximately 200 feet above the Main House directly before the canopy begins.

**4WD, or AWD is recommended for fall reservations.
**Access to the beach is made by walkdown path or by steps.  Those less agile may prefer a property that is more level.

Great outdoor space for large family group... loved the dock and paddling (great kayaks/boards), meals on the patio, tennis and pickleball, pool and darts. We barely left the property.

Family Time
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We found the place to be very family oriented with lots of things to do at the cabin from games to a hot tub. We enjoyed cooking meals in the kitchen and sitting out on the beautiful deck overlooking the water. We were lucky in that we had beautiful weather for December!! My son in law enjoyed snowboarding at Bristol. All in all, a great place to unwind from the holiday season!!

Lovely and Peaceful
Property is well maintained and as advertised. I would have loved to stay longer. As others have mentioned, this is a hillside property with many stairs. I would highly recommend this property to anyone other than those with mobility concerns.

Beautiful lakefront
The location of this property is ideal for people who want to spend a lot of time by the lake. The boat house has a bathroom and fridge, so you can limit your treks up and down the stairs with a little planning. We used the kayaks multiple times. The tennis courts are really nice. There is even a very nice spectating structure with shade and several pieces of outdoor furniture up there. And ample rackets and balls for anyone to use. The houses themselves are all pretty basic, but certainly satisfactory for our purposes. We were there to enjoy the lake and be outside, so it was ideal. The owner took us out for a boat ride, too. Which was very nice. A great stay. Would recommend to anyone who didn’t mind their sleeping quarters being spread out a little.

Be Warned
I rented this property and found it to be falsely described in the website advertisement. The photographs on their website are old and do not show the state of disrepair that the property is in. There are also untrue facts in the description such as zero stairs to enter property (there are several and some are not built to code). Stairs to lake advertised as 39 when there are actually 53. The stairs to the lake are dangerously supported or not supported at all. The rails on the patio are held up by both plastic and metal chains. We were unable to use the patio at all as it is so crooked you can't sit safely in a chair on it without tipping. Outdated pictures on the website fail to show this property's true condition. The house was also not clean, had unpleasant odors, a/c inadequate, mildew in hot tub, rotted wood throughout. Owner told us to just run the a/c 24/7 and keep windows open to deal with the odors. 2 of the skylights over the dining area leaked every time it rained. Some of the advertised parking areas were over an 1/8 of a mile up a steep incline. Because we did not receive what was rented to us, we left early without compensation from the company. They sent their technicians out to see the issues and they agreed with all of our complaints and even found more. Nothing could be done to correct these during our stay. FLPP told us we could leave the 2nd day and get our money back, but we had nowhere to go and several guests were scheduled to fly in throughout our stay. They would not relocate us. In hindsight, I looked at the reviews for Finger Lakes Premier Properties and found that there are many renters with the same issues. They should not be allowed to continue taking customers' money through fraudulent advertising. I have photos and videos to support all of my claims.

Hi Wendy, our guest services and maintenance have communicated with you promptly on the issues you experienced during your stay and even offered to alleviate you of staying in these conditions per your safety concerns with a full refund and it was declined on your behalf.  Since your stay the owner has been approved by the town inspector for his short term rental permit.  Any further requests would be best resolved by calling guest services at 888-414-5253.

Lots of space for families - bring your pickleball gear!

There were 16 of us ages 14-80. This place is not for those who have mobility issues. We enjoyed our stay and the property. We got lots of use of the tennis court - we played pickleball for hours! The hot tob was nice as it was chillier weather. We brought our boat so we were on the dock a lot and the boys fished from the dock. The biggest drawback was the driveway is quite steep and the canopy is limiting if you have a big truck ( say, for pulling the boat) and shuffling cars is tricky. We also had water pressure issues in the main house. Whenever someone was showering or using the laundry there would be almost no pressure anywhere else. The other houses had no issue with this. They could use a bit more large sized cooking pans for those of us trying to cook for big groups. The patio was nice with a beautiful view of the lake. We sat out there every morning and evening. The Sun room was great for dining or playing games and bird/critter watching. Overall it was a great family vacation.

Group of friends for a weekend get away

The property was a perfect size to visit with a diverse group of friends. The sleeping arrangements were able to accommodate a diverse group of couples and single persons. Group meals were a bit of a challenge if all guests from main and guest houses dined together in terms of spacing. In general, it was great for a weekend getaway or longer. The location on the water was picturesque and absolutely enjoyable.
